The great myna (Acridotheres grandis), also known as the white-vented myna, is a species of starling in the family Sturnidae.
The bird is found in Nepal and Northeast India, through Bangladesh to Southeast Asia.
The New Latin acridotheres (“locust-hunter”) is from Ancient Greek: akridos meaning locust, and theras meaning hunter.
grandis: Latin for big, great.
