Common Hill Myna
Sometimes spelled "mynah", or hill myna or myna bird
(Yểng, Nhông, Gracula religiosa)
The common hill myna (Gracula religiosa), sometimes spelled "mynah" and formerly simply known as the hill myna or myna bird, is a bird species of the starling Sturnidae family.
The Sturnidae are named for the genus Sturnus which in Latin means starling.
The genus name is from Latin graculus, an unknown bird sometimes identified as the western jackdaw.
The specific name religiosa may allude to the practice of teaching mynas to repeat prayers.
