The Bac Son Valley is in Bac Son District, Lang Son Province. The area is 160km northeast of Hanoi with great road conditions and breathtaking landscapes by the road sides.

Bac Son Valley is known more to photographers than travelers. The valley is inhabited by the Tay and Nung peoples. The valley of Bac Son is surrounded by rugged limestone mountains. From the peak of some of the mountains we can get great views of the whole area.

One special thing of Bac Son is that local farmers do not culture their rice fields at the same time as most farmers in Vietnam do. This results in rice fields generating different colors at a time. There is a period from November through February that there is no rice in Bac Son, but at other times of the year, you can get amazingly beautiful patches of colors at Bac Son gazing down from top of a mountain.

The trip to Bac Son is suitable to most families who love adventure experiences. Hiking up the mountain involves a steep trail with steps at some part, several local kids (10-12 years of age) do it with their school friends occasionally.

Detailed itinerary

Day1 Hanoi – Bac Son Valley/ Na Lay Mountain climbing (L/D)

0830 A.M Depart Hanoi for Bac Son Valley.
1200 A.M Arrive at Bac Son Valley.
1200-1330 Lunch at the homestay.
1400-1630 Adventure to the top of Mount Na Lay. The mountain could be quite slippery on a rainy day.
1700 Get back to the homestay and have easy time exploring the village.
1830 Dinner.
Overnight at Bac Son Valley.

Day2 Bac Son Valley - Hanoi (B/L)

Breakfast at the homestay.
Whole morning have time to visit more ethnic villages.
1200-1300 Lunch.
1400-1730 Travel back to Hanoi. End of service.
