Black-Collared Starling

The black-collared starling (Gracupica nigricollis) is a species of starling in the family Sturnidae.
The Sturnidae are named for the genus Sturnus which in Latin means starling.
The genus name Gracupica combines the Latin graculus meaning "jackdaw" (related to but smaller than crows and ravens) with pica meaning "magpie".
The specific epithet nigricollis is Latin for "black-necked": niger, meaning "black", and collis, meaning "neck".
