An Giang Province is located in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam, sharing a 100km border with Cambodia. The provincial capital of An Giang is Chau Doc City which is a popular for travelers to stop on trips between Vietnam and Cambodia.
Geography
An Giang is where the two major branches of the Mekong River flow into Vietnam from Cambodia. The province has forested mountains in the region of the Seven Mountain (That Son) and flat river delta.
Climate
An Giang has two main seasons: dry season from December through April and rainy season from May through November. The flood season of the Mekong River is in October-November during which the Mekong River is full of aquatic lives and hence more lively wildlife in the region.
An Giang is influenced by two monsoons: Southwesterly Wind during the rainy season and Northeasterly Wind during the dry season. The former is humid and pleasant; the latter causes dry weather.

2/ The Sam Mountain (8km southwest of Chau Doc Market):
At the base of the mountain, there is Mieu Ba Chua Su and Thoai Ngoc Hau Tomb. The top of Sam Mountain offers great views over the countryside of Vietnam and Cambodia.
3/ Tra Su Nature Reserve (in Van Giao, Tinh Bien, An Giang, 30km southwest of Chau Doc):
Tra Su includes 850 hectares of cajeput forest which is home to several species of flora and fauna (70 bird species, animal species,…). Tra Su can be visited by bicycle, rowing boat or motorboat. There is an observation for panoramic views of the whole forest.
4/ Ta Pa ricefields (Nui To Commune, Tri Ton District, 45km south of Chau Doc):
The idyllic rice fields with eye-pleasing colors are enhanced by swaying sugar palm trees. You’ll certainly be happy with the photos taken of the landscape.
5/ Chau Doc Floating Communities
There are several floating communities on the Mekong River in An Giang Province. If you are Chau Doc City, then travel by road eastward for 2.5km from the city center to Chau Giang Pier where you can hire a boat for a trip on the Mekong River (Bassac River, Hau River) northward towards An Phu District. After about 3km then you will be in a community living in floating houses which stretch several kilometers.
The floating communities formed during and after the recent war. People settle on the water and raise fish in cages underneath their house. It is a profitable business which attract more and more people to do the same. Visiting these families you can learn about their daily life and livelihood. Several families has part of their house as a restaurant to visitors. You can have great dining experiences here with a wide selection of produce from the Mekong River: fish salad, fish broth, fish vermicelli, crispy fried elephant fish… If it is during the flood season (October-November) then there are even more to choose from the menu!
6/ Long Xuyen Floating Market
Long Xuyen Floating Market is 2km east of the center of Long Xuyen City. It used to be a bigger market but with more convenient trade in traditional market and convenient transport by road that the Long Xuyen Floating Market are contracting just like the other floating markets in the Mekong Delta.
The Long Xuyen Floating Market is most lively from 5:00-6:00 A.M and traders and merchants should have been gone by 08:00 A.M. You might want to get up early if you wish to experience the market and come back home with great photos then.
