The crested myna (Acridotheres cristatellus) is a species of starling in the genus Acridotheres native to southeastern China and Indochina.

The Sturnidae are named for the genus Sturnus which in Latin means starling.
The New Latin acridotheres (“locust-hunter”) is from Ancient Greek: akridos meaning locust, and theras meaning hunter.
The specific epithet cristatella is a Latin diminutive of cristatus meaning "crested" or "plumed".
