Da Nang is in the Central Region of Vietnam, south of Hai Van Pass, 1 hour flight from either Hanoi or Saigon, 30km from Hoi An Old Town, 3 hours drive from Hue (about 110km-120km depending on if you take the tunnel or Hai Van Pass).
Da Nang possesses pristine beaches which once served as R&R bases for US servicemen during the war. Da Nang also has Ba Na Mountain, which is nearly 1,500m above sea level, and which was built into a hill station by the French colonialists earlier. There's also a cluster of mountains called the Marble Mountains representing the 5 Elements of the Earth on the way from Da Nang to Hoi An Old Town.

1/ Ba Na Hills

2/ Son Tra Peninsula
The Peninsula is 10km northeast of Da Nang City center where a stretch of land protrudes into the sea. The peninsula is covered in forest teeming with wildlife. AdventureGreen offers day hikes to Son Tra or half a day trips by motorbike. The road to the top is very steep and if you plan to take the adventure yourself, then exercise care. There have been cases reported of people getting lost in the forest and of fatal accidents.

5/ The Hai Van Pass

6/ Nam O Beach (Xuan Thieu Beach) or Red Beach
The Nam O Beach or Xuan Thieu Beach or Red Beach II was where the first US Marines arrived at Da Nang starting a new phase of the Vietnam War with direct confrontations between the US troops and Vietnamese troops (People's Army of Vietnam - PAVN). The beach stretches for 15km from Thuan Phuoc to the base of the Hai Van Pass.
