Tam Coc is a flooded paddy field with encircling karst mountains in Ninh Binh Province, northern Vietnam. The huge area of countryside around Tam Coc is also of similar landscape which is littered with several outcrops in the rice fields. A trip in Tam Coc brings you much peace and relaxation.

1/ Boat Trips
To visit Tam Coc, you will take a rowing boat trip for 2 hours 30 minutes which travels slowly through the ethereal natural landscape. The river at Tam Coc goes through three underwater caves formed inside towering karst mountains. On both sides of the river, there are rice fields that are tilled daily by ladies in white conical hats. In late May – early June and late September – early October, the landscape at Tam Coc is awe-inspiring when the rice turns into dazzling golden colors.

2/ Bike Tours
Alternatively, you can hire a bicycle and pedal yourself leisurely through the fresh and peaceful countryside. On a bike tour, you may like to visit the hidden Thai Vi Temple with amazing scenery around, the Bich Dong Pagoda with breathtaking views of the countryside from the mountain top, Thung Nang – another site similar to Tam Coc.

3/ Karst Mountains and Caves
There are several karst mountains and for certain there are several caves inside them. These are certainly of immense interest to caving enthusiasts. Some adventurers may like rock-climbing on the several karst mountains, mind your safety before try!

4/ Hang Mua
Do not miss climbing steps to the top of the Hang Mua Mountain which offers breathtaking views of Tam Coc and the whole countryside. The best moments for photography are at sunrise and sunset.

5/ Tam Coc Market
There is also a market at Tam Coc of which the gatherings are in the early morning only. You have to get up at 05:00-06:00 A.M to see the live scene of the market. The villagers often wrap up their bartering early for work in their farms later in the day.
