Tram Tau District is a mountainous area to the southwest of Yen Bai Province. Tram Tau shares the border with Bac Yen District (of Son La Province) to the southwest and Muong La District (of Son La Province) to the west.
Geography of Tram Tau
Tram Tau terrain is mountainous. The district is home to the Phu Luong Mountain Range and Ta Xua Mountain Range which are favorite places for hard trekking adventures. There are small valleys in Tram Tau by rivers which are prone to flash floods in the rainy season.

The best time to visit Tram Tau
It rains in Tram Tau in the summer and autumn months from May to October. There may be torrential rain in September and October if the region is hit by a typhoon. The best time to visit Tram Tau is in the winter and spring time from late November through April.
