Hoi An was a famed international trading port in the Central Coast of Vietnam during the 16-18th centuries. The legacy left of the old port town includes the old merchant houses, Chinese congregational assemblies, pagodas and temples, the Japanese covered bridge...and especially the amazing quaint vibe that everyone could feel walking in the narrow streets…
The Old Town of Hoi An is a very popular tourist attraction in Vietnam nowadays and travelers often spend a few days to get relaxed in this peaceful town.
Hoi An is in the Central Coast of Vietnam and hence the tropical monsoon climate. There are two main seasons: dry season from February through July and rainy season from August through January. The weather in Hoi An is characterized by the interesting patterns: plenty of sunshine, plenty of rainfall, hot temperatures, either too dry or too wet…
Generally speaking the climate of Hoi An seems quite extreme. But there are really beautiful times that you may not want to miss if you plan holidays to this amazing place.
1/ January – February
These two months are seasonally transitional time of the year and it may rain lightly or it may be dry and with somehow overcast skies. The temperatures are very pleasant (20-25oC), maybe the most beautiful of all year round. It starts to get sunny in February.
2/ March – April
These two months are dry and the temperatures start getting hot. There is plenty of bright sunshine that you had better be prepared to cope with this taking in outdoor activities.
3/ May through July
The temperatures are mostly above 30oC and it could surpass 38oC on some days. It is hot and the sun is trong.
4/ August
August is the start of the rainy season but on some years it is still fairly dry with tolerable temperatures (30oC-35oC). At the end of August it starts to rain more and the temperatures drop quickly when it rains.
5/ September – October
There may be a few times each year that Hoi An and the Central Coast of Vietnam are hit by typhoons which result in torrential rain and floods. The temperatures are around 20-29oC.
6/ November through December
It rains much less than in October but it is wet still. There are some dry days but with mostly overcast skies. The temperatures range from 18oC to 23oC.
