Staphida is a genus of passerine birds in the white-eye family Zosteropidae, formerly placed in the genus Yuhina.

Zosteropidae, Zosterops combines the Ancient Greek words zosteros "belt" or "girdle" and opos "eye".
Staphida: Greek staphis, staphidos dried grapes, raisins.
castaniceps: Latin castaneus: chestnut-coloured; -ceps: -headed (caput head).
