The brown-crowned scimitar babbler (Pomatorhinus phayrei) is a species of bird in the family Timaliidae.
The bird is found in Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and China.

- White-browed scimitar babbler: white brow, black stripe through the eye, rufous color at the base of the neck, yellow bill.
- Brown-crowned scimitar babbler: white brow, black stripe through the eye to the side of the neck, thin black band on the white brow, red bill.
- Red-billed scimitar babbler: white brow, black stripe through the eye to the side of the neck, no black color on the white brow, red bill.
