The Peninsula is 10km northeast of Da Nang City center where a stretch of land protrudes into the sea. The peninsula is covered in forest teeming with wildlife. The trail on the peninsula offers panoramic views of Da Nang City and the beaches as well as the Hai Van Pass.

Son Tra is home to hundres of macaques and about 1,300 Red-shanked Langurs (doucs, Pygathrix nemaeus). The latter is endemic to Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, and is listed as critically endangered species in Vietnam’s Red Book.

Red-shanked doucs are beautiful and distinct with long white beard, the red shanks, white hands. On the peninsula, the doucs live in pack of 5-7 individuals.
