Sung Sot Cave (Cave of Surprise) is located on an island 1 hour cruise from either the Tuan Chau Island or Bai Chay Town, Halong City. The cave openings are located some 3-40m above sea level and the visitors are to hike the steep steps to enter the Sung Sot Cave.

Travel Guide to the Sung Sot Cave on Halong Bay Vietnam

The path inside the Sung Sot Cave is about 500m long and mostly flat. But visiting the cave takes from 1 hour to 1 and a half hour. The stalagmites are nice while the stalactites are not that impressive. The ceiling of the cave is smooth mostly with marks like having been punched while the rock was soft.

The island that houses the Sung Sot Cave is like most other islands on Halong Bay: limestone with thick bushy forest. In fact, the entrance to the cave is covered in bushes and vine plants.
