  • Phalaropus

    Phalaropus is a genus of birds commonly known as phalarope.
    The English and genus names come through French phalarope and scientific Latin Phalaropus from Ancient Greek phalaris, "coot", and pous, "foot". 
    Coots and phalaropes both have lobed toes.

    Red-necked Phalarope (Phalaropus lobatus, Rẽ cổ đỏ) is a medium-sized wader, Scolopacidae family, Phalaropus genus.

    The bird is a pass-through winter bird, uncommonly sighted at the Xuan Thuy National Park.

    The bird is a visiting winter bird, uncommonly sighted at the Xuan Thuy National Park.

    The genus name is Latin for a snipe or woodcock.

    The specific epithet rusticola is the Latin name of a gamebird which was possibly a grouse.

  • Sharp-tailed Sandpiper

    Sharp-tailed Sandpiper (Calidris acuminata, Rẽ đuôi nhọn) is a small wader, Scolopacidae family, Calidris genus.

    The bird is a visiting winter bird, uncommonly sighted at the Xuan Thuy National Park.

  • Spoon-billed Sandpiper

    Spoon-billed sandpiper (Rẽ mỏ thìa, Calidris pygmeus, Calidris pygmaea), a critically threatened species, is a small wader which breeds in north-eastern Russia and winters in Southeast Asia. The birds are frequently sighted birds at the Xuan Thuy National Park in winter.

  • Spotted Redshank

    Spotted Redshank (Choắt chân đỏ, Tringa erythropus) is a wader (shorebird) in the large bird family Scolopacidae.

  • Terek Sandpiper

    The Terek Sandpiper (Xenus cinereus, Choắt chân màng bé) is a small migratory wader species, family of Scolopacidae, genus Xenus. Terek Sandpiper is a pass-through winter bird commonly sighted at the Xuan Thuy National Park.

  • Tringa

    Tringa is a genus of waders, containing the shanks and tattlers. The name Tringa is the Neo-Latin name given to the green sandpiper based on Ancient Greek trungas, a thrush-sized, white-rumped, tail-bobbing wading bird mentioned by Aristotle.

    2/ Wood sandpiper (Choắt bụng xám, Tringa glareola)
    The specific epithet glareola is from Latin glarea, " gravel".
    3/ Spotted redshank (Choắt chân đỏ, Tringa erythropus)
    The specific erythropus is from Ancient Greek eruthros, "red", and pous, "foot".
    4/ Marsh sandpiper (Choắt đốm đen, Tringa stagnatilis)
    The specific epithet stagnatilis is from Latin stagnum, "swamp".
    5/ Common greenshank (Choắt lớn, Tringa nebularia)
    The specific nebularia is from Latin nebula "mist". 
    6/ Nordmann's greenshank (Choắt lớn mỏ vàng, Tringa guttifer) or the spotted greenshank
    7/ Grey-tailed tattler (Choắt lùn đuôi xám, Tringa brevipes), also known as the Siberian tattler or Polynesian tattler,
    formerly Heteroscelus brevipes.
    The specific brevipes is from Latin brevis, "short", and pes, "foot".

    The Eurasian whimbrel or common whimbrel (Numenius phaeopus) is a wader in the large family Scolopacidae, the genus Numenius. The whimbrel is a passthrough, winter bird commonly sighted at the Xuan Thuy National Park.

  • Wood Sandpiper

    The Wood Sandpiper (Tringa glareola, Choắt bụng xám) is a small wader in the large family Scolopacidae, sandpiper, Tringa genus. Wood Sandpiper is a pass-through winter bird commonly sighted at the Xuan Thuy National Park.

  • Xenus

    Xenus is a genus of waders containing only one member, Terek sandpiper (Xenus cinereus).

    1/ Terek sandpiper (Choắt chân màng bé, Xenus cinereus) 
    It is named after the Terek River which flows into the west of the Caspian Sea where it was first observed.
    The genus name Xenus is from Ancient Greek xenos meaning "stranger"; the specific epithet cinereus is Latin for "ash-grey" from cinis, cineris, "ashes".
