The grand journey brings us through the sensational mountainous region of the Northeast of Vietnam, through myriads ethnic villages to the ethereal landscape of the Dong Van Plateau. One day you wake up amid tropical jungle and the other day, you’ll be waking up amid hundreds and thousands of serrated ridges which look just like in a fairy tale! On the tour, you’ll get excited, you’ll get overwhelmed and you’ll be ecstatic and the feelings will be with you for some time after the adventure.

On the adventure, you’ll be looked after well by our driver and tour guide who will engage you from one experience to another; who will show you the landscape as well as tune you into the local cultures. Detailed itinerary

Day1 ( Wednesday ) Hanoi – Thai Nguyen – Ba Be National Park (210km)/Boat Trip on the lake (-/D)

Our driver and guide pick you up from your hotel and we take the road trip heading north. We’ll be passing through idyllic countryside with valleys and mountains all the way to Ba Be National Park. Arriving at the national park, have time for refreshment at our hosts’ family then take a boat trip on the Ba Be Lake surrounded by lush tropical forest and towering mountains.

Day2 ( Thursday ) Ba Be National Park – Cao Bang – Ban Gioc Waterfall (220km) – Cao Bang (B)

Breakfast at the homestay.
Travel uphill amid imposing mountains to Cao Bang City, then continue onto a road with breathtaking landscape to the Chinese border. Our destination is the amazing Ban Gioc Waterfall, right on the border between Vietnam and China. We have time to get refreshed by the waterfall then travel to Nguom Ngao Cave, a magnificent one amid a secret valley surrounded by karst mountains. The walk in the valley offers us with lovely scenery. Later we travel back to Cao Bang City.

Day3 ( Friday ) Cao Bang – Ha Giang – Meo Vac (230km) (B)

Breakfast at the hotel.
Travel on the less-traveled road with wild landscape of sensational beauty for Ha Giang. Later in the day, we’ll have to climb steep mountain slopes leading to the jaw-dropping Dong Van Plateau. Overnight at a hotel in Meo Vac Township.

Day4 ( Saturday ) Dong Van Plateau: Meo Vac – Ma Pi Leng Pass - Lung Cu – Lung Tao – Dong Van (100km) (B)

Breakfast at the hotel.
Check out of our hotel and enjoy a couple of hours adoring the heavenly beauty of the Ma Pi Leng Pass, among the most stunning mountain passes in Vietnam. Then travel further northward through the heart of the Rock Plateau for Lung Cu which is close to the northern-most point of the Vietnamese territory. Climb the Lung Cu Flag Tower to behold the sublime landscape with several serrated ridges all around. Visit a village of the Flower Lo Lo. Then travel further through the amazing landscape at Lung Tao. We’ll arrive back at Dong Van Town later in the day. Have free time.

Day5 ( Sunday ) Dong Van Market – Sa Phin Vuong Family Residence – Ha Giang (150km) (B)

Breakfast at the hotel.
Enjoy getting lost amid an exotic ethnic market of Dong Van whose gathering is on Sunday morning only. It is lovely to engage into the authentic daily of the local ethnic groups and to learn about their culture. Then we come back to the hotel to get our luggage and travel to the Vuong Family Residence, former residence of the “Hmong King” of Dong Van Plateau. The residence has a lovely Chinese architecture and a lovely story of the construction process.

Leaving the house of the Hmong King, we’ll travel through the unreal beauty of the Karst Plateau of Dong Van for Ha Giang. We’ll stop at various places on the way at Quan Ba and Yen Minh for photographs.

Day6 ( Monday ) Ha Giang – Hanoi (B)

Breakfast at the hotel.
An easy day for us to travel along the Lo River to the riverside city of Tuyen Quang, then we’ll follow the peaceful countryside with myriad rice fields to Hanoi.
