Ducula is a genus of the pigeon family Columbidae, collectively known as imperial pigeons.
Imperial pigeons are found in forests of southern Asia, New Guinea, northern Australia and the Pacific islands. 

Columba: Latin columba (“dove, pigeon”). Ancient Greek κόλυμβος (kólumbos, “a diver”), from κολυμβάω (kolumbáō, “dive, plunge headlong, swim”).
The genus name Ducula is from the Latin dux genitive ducis meaning "leader".

The green imperial pigeon (Ducula aenea) is a large forest pigeon of the genus Ducula of the family Columbidae.

The genus name Ducula is from the New Latin (originally from from Nepali ḍhukur for “mountain imperial pigeon") dux genitive ducis meaning "leader".
The specific name aenea is from the Latin aeneus meaning "of a bronze colour" or "coppery".

The pied imperial pigeon (Ducula bicolor) is a large pied species of pigeon of the family Columbidae.
The bird is found in Southeast Asia, ranging from Vietnam Myanmar and Thailand, throughout Indonesia and east to the Philippines.
