Ruby-Cheeked Sunbird

The ruby-cheeked sunbird (Chalcoparia singalensis) is a species of sunbird in the family Nectariniidae.
Nectariniidae: New Latin, from Nectarinia, type genus + -idae.
The genus name is from Ancient Greek khalkopareos meaning "with cheeks of bronze".
khalkos: copper, or copper alloyed with tin, bronze.
parea, paraua, paraeion: cheeks. (from para-, “beside” + οὖς oûs, “ear”)
The specific epithet is from the erroneous type locality, Sri Lanka.
