Trekking Tour in Mai Chau Overview
The tour features the fresh nature as well as the untouched traditional culture of the ethnic minorities who inhabit in these scenic valleys. Hoa Binh is relatively off the tourist track and it is more likely that you won't encounter other travelers on the trek.
On the tour, we trek for 4-5 hours a day, except for the first and the last days of the trip when we trek for about 2-3 hours each. The region that we trek through does not have medicare readily available, please bring along your first aid kits, medicine, insect repellent, degradable soap before departure.
It is possible to trek all year round in Hoa Binh Province, but the best time should be from January to April. In May – October, there may be torrential rain that makes the trekking trails slippery. It's normally cold in Hoa Binh in November–December. The trekking routes include forest trails, rocky paths, village dirt road, walking trails amid rice terraces.
Accommodations on the tour are homestay at ethnic houses. Our ethnic hosts are friendly and genuine. All the meals on the tour are prepared by our local cook. We do try to introduce dishes from the local ethnic groups from time to time.
