Greater flameback 
also known as greater goldenback, large golden-backed woodpecker

The greater flameback (Chrysocolaptes guttacristatus), also known as the greater goldenback or large golden-backed woodpecker, is a woodpecker species.
The bird is widely found in the northern Indian subcontinent, eastwards to southern China, the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, western and central Java and northeast Borneo.


The genus name combines the Ancient Greek: khrusos meaning "gold" and kolaptēs meaning "chiseller".
guttacristatus: Latin gutta spot; cristatus: From Latin crista (“the comb or tuft on the head of animals; tuft of leaves on plants; crest of a helmet”).
