Le genre Garrulax comprend des espèces de garrulaxes ou grives bruyantes, passereaux de la famille des Leiothrichidae.

Leiothrix Leiothrichidae: mot grec ancien leios qui veut dire "lisse, doux" and thrix meaning "cheveux, plumette".
Garrulax vient du mot latin garrire "bavarder"; le mot latin garrulus: bavardage; -ax avoir la tendance, en pente vers.
