The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and Birdlife International split the Eurasian jay into three species:
- Eurasian jay (Garrulus glandarius);
- The subspecies Garrulus glandarius leucotis becomes the white-faced jay (Garrulus leucotis);
- The bispecularis group containing six subspecies becomes the plain-crowned jay (Garrulus bispecularis).Corvina ( Coracina) / corvina Latin corvinus raven-like, raven-black (corvus raven).
